On Tuesday I spoke in front of the board meeting called WIB (Workforce Investment Board) at CareerLink. The WIB receives grants from the government to allow them to open programs, training, and services to the Lehigh Valley. With the help from Janice Lipzin the director of visual Arts and education at Arts Quest and a classmate name Victor George. I spoke about the program I am in which is the Photo Design Project and it's about photography and graphic design.
I talked about where I was before the program, what I know now, how it has changed me, what I am proud of, how I benefit WIB, and what am I going to do when the program is over? Before the program I was unemployed with no skills or experience because I never had a job until I found WIB to give me a chance to succeed! What I know now is photography, graphic design, networking, social media, journalism, and interacting with people. The program changed me by realizing there are opportunities for people to be employed. I am proud of my accomplishments and knowing a lot more now than I did a year ago to have skills I can take to my next job. How I benefit WIB is by taking great photos, and placing them in a book to represent their training, and services for the Lehigh Valley. I am also using my graphic design skills to create flyers to show our community what WIB can really do for unemployed people. What I am going to do after the program is go to college to be a teacher for little children and to get a job with the skills I have to offer.
I am so proud of myself getting in front of the board meeting and talk to them about my experience. I knew I could do it and I wouldn't mind doing it again!
